According to The National Alliance for Caregiving, there are 65 million family caregivers in America today. The majority of these caregivers are women. They are the fabric holding up the care of children, spouses, parents, family members and friends. I think of them as the unsung heroes in the battles against everything from cancer and Alzheimer’s to the backbone that provides ongoing care of those with disabilities and long-term illnesses.
Caregiving is landscape I know well. For a decade, I was a cancer caregiver. The pages in this section reflect my perspective as a young wife turned experienced caregiver. However, I also hope the information provided is universal anyone walking the path of caring for another human being.
You have my deepest admiration.
